It's a heterogeneous mixture. Diamond is made of just one element: carbon. Each carbon atom in diamond is connected to four other carbon atoms, in a crystal that extends on and on. There are other forms of pure carbon where the atoms are bonded differently, notably charcoal and graphite.

Diamond is made up entirely of carbon atoms. Since carbon is one element, it is not a compound or a mixture. Still, even though it is made of only one type of element, it wouldn't be fair to call it an element because diamond is really many carbon atoms bonded together in a very particular shape.

Diamond is most definitely not on the period table of elements. This would indicate that diamond is either a mixture or a compound made of multiple elements; however, that is also incorrect.

Diamond is an element. It is not a compound as compounds contain several elements. Additionally, diamond is not a mixture since a mixture is either a solution or a mix of various elements in unequal ratios. For example, bronze is a mixture of copper and tin.

Diamond is neither a compound nor a mixture. Diamond is an element since it purely consists of a single type of atom, which is Carbon (C). No matter how many times you break it down, it will stay as Carbon and it cannot produce other elements.

It is neither an element nor a compound. A diamond is composed of Carbon, which is an element. When Carbon clumps together in a patternless shaped form, and then pressure is applied, a diamond is formed. This makes the diamond made of really only carbon, so it is not an element on its own, and it is not a compound, having made by only 1 type of thing.

Technically diamond is a non-metallic element. Since it's seen as carbon. Brass = Brass is a mixture of the elements of copper and zinc. Those elements can be separated by physical techniques.
